1. Who we are

Tong Living is the imprint and website of Wenjing Zhao, based in Austin, Texas, United States. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers tongliving.com/ and any email we send you. It applies to everyone who visits the site, whatever country you are in.

If you buy a book, you buy it from a retailer such as Amazon, not from us. That purchase is covered by the retailer’s own privacy policy, and we never see your payment details.

3. What we collect

What you give us. Your email address, if you choose to sign up for the body clock chart or the newsletter. That is all we ask for. We do not ask for your name, your address, or anything about your health.

What is collected automatically. Your IP address, browser type and version, which pages you visited and for how long, and the site you arrived from. This is ordinary website analytics, and it is not used to identify you personally.

What we do not collect. We do not run user accounts or logins. We do not process payments. We do not collect health information. We do not ask for or store special category data.

5. Our legal basis

For readers in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area:

Consent, for the newsletter and the chart. You gave it by entering your address and confirming it. You can withdraw it at any time, in one click, and withdrawing is as easy as giving it was.
Legitimate interests, for basic website analytics and for keeping the site secure and working.

6. Email

Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click, no login, no questions asked, and it takes effect immediately.

We use double opt-in, which means we send a confirmation email and only add you to the list when you click it. If you never click, you are never added.

We do not sell, rent, or share your email address, and we never will.

7. Who else sees your information

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We share it only with the services we need to run the site:

EmailOctopus, which stores the mailing list and sends the emails
Namecheap, which hosts the website
Google Analytics 4, through Site Kit by Google, which provides website analytics
CookieAdmin Pro by Softaculous, which manages cookie consent

These services are based in the United States, so your information is transferred there and stored there. Each is required to protect it and to use it only for the purpose we share it for.

8. Cookies

The site uses cookies to understand how visitors use it and to remember your cookie choices. When you first arrive you can accept all, reject all, or choose by category. You can change your mind at any time using the CookieAdmin banner, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Rejecting non-essential cookies does not stop you using the site.

9. How we protect it

The site uses SSL encryption for everything sent between your browser and us. Access to the mailing list is limited to Wenjing. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so while we take this seriously we cannot promise absolute security.

10. How long we keep it

We keep your email address for as long as you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, you are removed from the active list. Ask us to delete your record entirely and we will do it within 30 days, unless we are legally required to keep something.

11. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

Tell you what personal information we hold about you
Correct anything that is wrong
Delete it
Stop sending you marketing emails
Give you a copy in a portable format

Write to wenjing@tongliving.com and we will reply within a few days. You will never be asked to give a reason.

United Kingdom and European Economic Area. You also have the right to object to processing, to ask us to restrict it, and to complain to your national data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

California. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act you can ask what categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, and ask us to delete them. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

12. Children

This site is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us their information, write to us and we will delete it.

13. Links to other sites

The site links to other places, including retailers and social platforms. Once you follow a link you are on their site, under their policy, and we are not responsible for what they do.

14. Changes

We may update this policy. Changes are posted here with a new Last updated date. If a change matters to you, we will say so in an email rather than leaving you to find it.
